Mayor reviews development works at Shamshan Ghat Jogi Gate

 

In order to review the ongoing development works Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation today on 17-02-2020 conducted an extensive tour of Shamshan Ghat at Jogi Gate Jammu along with Sh. Murari Lal (Ex. Councillor) & other development Committee members of Shamshan Ghat Sh. Arun Gupta Executive Engineer,
Sh. Suresh Gupta Health Officer, S.A.Sheikh, Mohd Yaseen Junior Engineers other field staff of Jammu Municipal Corporation & large number of citizens of Jammu. Mayor along with committee members went round the complex & reviewed the construction work of two Major Sheds at Jogi Gate Shamshan Ghat which is being constructed by Jammu Municipal Corporation at the estimate cost of Rs. Eighty lakh only as there was urgent need of these sheds as people who come for cremation at their last destination known as Bada Ghar/ Hari Ghat  have to face lot of hardships especially in rainy and summer season due to non existence of sheds, broken rooms meant for keeping asthian. Mayor was apprised by the Engineering wing of JMC that these sheds will be completed within the shortest period of time. Mayor on the demands of committee members, also directed the Municipal Engineers to start the renovation & construction of Entrance gates near parking slot of vehicles as well as rooms which has become so old & deteriorated by allotting fresh tenders for these particular development works. Mayor told that the Municipal Corporation has started the developments of cremation grounds/Grave Yards/Shishu Samadhian by allotting Rs.25 lacs for each ward of Jammu city on priority basis so that general public who come for mourning/cremation may not suffer due to lack of basic amenities. He also directed Health officer to install twin dustbins at various spots of Shamshan Ghat and maintain proper cleanliness in and around Jogi Gate Cremation Ground. He also assured the shamshan Ghat Committee members that all their necessary demands regarding better renovation / maintenance of Cremation Ground will be  sort out on priority and he alongwith development committee members will visit the said site on regular basis to have speedy development of the Bada Ghar.
