Udhampur: Renovation work expedited on NH-44 ahead of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 ADC reviews progress at critical sites

Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa, Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh today inspected the condition of National Highway-44 here from Jakheni Chowk to Chenani. He was accompanied by a team from the National Highways Authority of India.

 

The inspection was undertaken to assess the condition and maintenance of the highway to ensure smooth and uninterrupted traffic movement during the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra and the ensuing monsoon season.

 

During the inspection, the team identified three critical locations at Tharad, Dewal and Samroli, requiring immediate intervention. It was observed that repair and restoration work at these sites is already underway. The executing agency was directed to expedite the ongoing works and ensure completion by the end of this month.

 

The ADC also instructed the authorities to complete road markings and undertake thorough cleaning of drains along the stretch by the end of June.
