Kishtwar admin finalises Transport Plan for Shri Machail Mata Ji Yatra 2026

Under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma, Motor Vehicles Department, in coordination with Police and Traffic Police, on Saturday convened a meeting with Transporters of Paddar block to discuss and finalize Transport Plan for smooth conduct of Machail Mata Ji Yatra-2026.

 

The meeting was attended by ARTO Tasleem Wani, SDPO Paddar Vijay Kumar Bhagat, SHO Paddar Amrit Katoch and SO Traffic Shabir Khan, besides transporters, drivers and other stakeholders of Paddar block.

 

Transporters and drivers were directed to ensure adequate transport facilities for the convenience of pilgrims during the Yatra period. It was made clear that only fit vehicles possessing all valid documents shall be allowed to ply. “The vehicles not having valid route permits for the designated route shall not be allowed to operate,” the Transporters were told.

 

The participants were directed to operate strictly according to traffic and transport regulations, particularly avoiding overloading and overcharging.

 

Instructions were also issued to past approved fare lists on the windscreens of passenger vehicles to ensure transparency and safeguard the interests of pilgrims.

 

The meeting further stressed strong coordination among the Motor Vehicles Department, Police and Traffic authorities for the smooth regulation of transport operations during the Yatra. On-the-spot fitness inspection of vehicles was also conducted.

 

The participants were also imparted awareness regarding the ongoing 100 Day “Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir” Abhiyan, sensitising drivers to the harmful effects of drug abuse. They were exhorted to ensure safe, responsible and disciplined driving.

 

The ARTO reiterated that passenger safety and smooth transportation arrangements during the Shri Machail Mata Ji Yatra 2026 is one of the top priorities of the district administration.
