
KISHTWAR, APRIL 20: The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS) Kishtwar successfully organized a comprehensive awareness and anti-doping campaign under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Bharat Abhiyan (100 Days Campaign) with the powerful theme “Choose Sports, Not Drugs”.
The initiative was conducted across all schools and zones of District Kishtwar, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students, teachers and field staff.
The campaign was carried out under the direction of Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K, Anuradha Gupta and Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma.
The event was closely supervised by District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO) Kishtwar, Jaffer Haider Sheikh along with the dedicated efforts of all Zonal Physical Education Officers (ZPEOs) and field staff.
During the programme, special focus was laid on educating students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of anti-doping in sports.
Experts and field officials highlighted how substance abuse not only damages physical and mental health but also destroys the spirit of fair play and integrity in sports. Students were sensitized about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, discipline and ethical sporting behavior.
Various activities such as awareness rallies, interactive sessions, pledge ceremonies and sports events were organized to effectively communicate the message. The slogan “Choose Sports, Not Drugs” echoed across playgrounds and classrooms, inspiring youth to adopt sports as a positive and constructive path.
DYSSO Kishtwar, Jaffer Haider Sheikh, while interacting with participants, emphasized that sports serve as a powerful tool to keep youth away from drugs and instill values of teamwork, dedication and honesty. He urged students to act as ambassadors of change and spread awareness in their communities.
The campaign received overwhelming support from all stakeholders, making it a significant step towards building a drug-free and doping-free society.
The Department reaffirmed its commitment to continue such initiatives to safeguard the future of youth and promote a culture of clean and fair sports across the district.
