Handwara celebrates 150 Years of “Vande Mataram” with Patriotic Fervour

KUPWARA, MARCH 23: On the directions of District Administration Kupwara, a special commemorative event marking 150 years of India’s iconic national song, Vande Mataram, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit in Handwara today.

The programme witnessed active participation from officers, officials, students, and members of civil society, who gathered to pay tribute to the timeless legacy of the song that inspired generations during India’s freedom struggle and continues to evoke national pride.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner, (ADC), Handwara, Javed Naseem Masoodi, highlighted the historical significance of Vande Mataram, emphasizing its vital role in uniting people and fostering a strong sense of patriotism and national identity.

The event featured vibrant cultural performances by students, including patriotic songs and recitations, adding color and energy to the celebration.

 The programme also aimed to sensitize the younger generation about the rich cultural and historical heritage associated with the national song, while reinforcing the values of unity, integrity, and love for the nation.

On the occasion, a blood donation drive was also organized, in which Tehsildar Handwara, Zeeshan khan, members of the media fraternity, and other participants voluntarily donated blood, reflecting a spirit of service and humanitarian commitment alongside the patriotic celebrations.

Officers reiterated the importance of organizing such commemorative events to nurture a spirit of nationalism and collective pride among the masses.

The celebration concluded with a collective rendition of Vande Mataram, reflecting deep respect and homage to the nation.

Among those present were the Deputy Chief Education Officer Kupwara (HQ Handwara), Zonal Education Officers, Tehsildar Handwara, senior police officers members of the media fraternity, and officers from various line departments at the sub-divisional level, showcasing strong community participation and support.
