DC Ganderbal chairs meeting to review preparations for launch of HPV Vaccination

GANDERBAL, FEBRUARY 27: A meeting of the District Task Force for Immunization was held today under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, to review preparedness regarding the launch of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign in the district.

The meeting was held in backdrop of the scheduled launch of the HPV vaccination drive by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Narendra Modi across the country.

At the outset, the meeting was apprised of the importance of the vaccine. It was noted that cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women in India, often caused by HPV.

The DC was briefed about the completion of line-listing, block-wise verification, capacity building, and orientation sessions, as well as the status of vaccine logistics and cold chain management.

A total of 11 sites have been selected for the vaccination drive, with District Hospital Ganderbal serving as the primary center. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) informed that the program will run for 90 days.

The DC directed the Chief Education Officer (CEO) and Programme Officer, ICDS to increase awareness about the benefits among the general population and encourage beneficiaries in the target age group to get vaccinated.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Programme Officer ICDS, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer Ganderbal, Block Medical Officers and other officials from the health department.
