
DODA, JANUARY 24: National Girl Child Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm across Doda district to highlight the importance of empowering girls and promoting their rights, education, health and safety.
The main programme was organized by the District Administration in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department, Education Department and other allied departments under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Zubair Ahmed. A large number of girl students participated actively in the event.
The programme featured a variety of activities including awareness sessions, speeches, debates and painting competitions, highlighting the significance of the day.
Girl students eloquently expressed their views on eliminating gender discrimination and ensuring equal opportunities for the girl child in all spheres of life. Key issues such as girls’ education, healthcare, nutrition and protection from social evils were highlighted during the discussions. The academic and sports topper were felicitated at the event.
The Chief Guest, District Development Commissioner (DDC), Harvinder Singh emphasized the importance of National Girl Child Day and highlighted the remarkable achievements of women in fields such as politics, education, sports, literature, civil services and other sectors. He urged parents and the community to collectively work towards creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for girls to achieve their full potential.
The DDC also commended the enthusiastic participation of the girl students and felicitated meritorious students with medals and awards.
The programme was attended by ACP, CEO, DSWO, Executive Officer Municipality Doda along with concerned teachers and other officials.
