
JAMMU, JANUARY 24: The Department of Horticulture, Jammu in collaboration with the district offices, organized an awareness and training programme for the tribal community on Government schemes aimed at livelihood and employment generation. The programme was held at Gujjar Desh Charitable Trust Office Channi Himmat.
The awareness programme covered key Horticulture schemes including JKCIP, CSS, SMAM, ATMA, PMKSY and MIDH, highlighting opportunities in horticulture-based livelihoods.
The programme was chaired by the Mission Director HADP/JKCIP, Sandeep Kumar in the presence of Director Horticulture Jammu, Gul Syed.
Also present on the occasion were Director Animal Husbandry, Sanjay Gupta, Director Extension, Amrish Vaid, Chief Horticulture Officer, Jammu, R.K. Kotwal, Head of Extension Department Skuast Jammu/JKCIP Pawan Sharma and Chief Canning Instructor (CCI), Jammu, Sanjeev Kumar.
The officers deliberated in detail on the departmental schemes and emphasized skill development through training programmes, particularly in fruit and vegetable preservation, to enhance income generation among tribal beneficiaries.
The programme witnessed active participation from the tribal community, reflecting keen interest in adopting horticulture as a sustainable source of livelihood.
