
UDHAMPUR, JANUARY 23: District Legal Services Authority Udhampur held its inaugural Under Trial Review Committee (UTRC) meeting of 2026 pursuant to directives from National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and J&K Legal Services Authority (J&K LSA).
The meeting convened at Conference Hall DLSA aimed to comprehensively review under-trial prisoner cases and expedite the release of eligible individuals who have endured protracted detention without trial.
Kalpana Revo, Chairperson DLSA/ Principal District & Sessions Judge Udhampur chaired the meeting which was attended by Sumati Sharma, Sub-Judge/Secretary DLSA Udhampur; Prem Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Udhampur; Sandeep, Additional DSP Udhampur representing Senior Superintendent of Police Udhampur; Reyaz Ahmed, Assistant Superintendent District Jail Udhampur along with Satish Kotwal, Munshi District Jail Udhampur representing Superintendent District Jail, Udhampur and Pawan Gupta, Chief LADC Udhampur.
The Committee meticulously reviewed cases based on Supreme Court and NALSA guidelines, focusing on prisoners lacking adequate representation or detained without trial. Key discussion points included conducting regular meetings to track progress, maintaining a consolidated data sheet to monitor prisoner cases and preparing quarterly reports to ensure the benefits of legal provisions reach the intended beneficiaries.
