
SRINAGAR JANUARY 22: To mark the Phase II of commemoration of 150 years of the national song “Vande Mataram”, a district level event was held today at the Government College of Education (GCoE), Srinagar.
The programme organized by District Administration Srinagar in collaboration with Government College of Education, Srinagar was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo
Among those present on the occasion were Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Aadil Fareed; SDM East, Zubair Ahmad; Principal, GCOE, Prof. Seema Naaz, along with faculty members and students from various degree Colleges of the district.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the timeless relevance of “Vande Mataram”, noting that the song not only inspired India’s freedom struggle but also continues to serve as a powerful symbol of unity, harmony and national pride. He further observed that the national song evokes deep reverence for the nation’s natural landscape, its mountains, rivers and land regarded as life-giving and sacred elements that shape India.
The DC emphasized that such programmes aim to instil a sense of patriotism while encouraging them to understand rich cultural and historical legacy. The DC added that the 150-year commemoration provides an opportunity to reflect on the values of unity, sacrifice and freedom inspiring younger generations to uphold the ideals of patriotism.
The Deputy Commissioner lauded the organizers and participants for conducting the event in an effective and meaningful manner. He also felicitated the participants of the event.
During the programme, students from various City Colleges presented patriotic and national songs, adding cultural vibrancy to the event.
Earlier, Principal GCOE Prof. Seema Naaz welcomed the participants and highlighted the role of educational institutions in commemorating the 150 years of the national song “Vande Mataram”.
