Patriotic Fervour marks Day-2 of Vande Mataram Celebrations in Shopian Cultural performances highlight 150 Years of Vande Mataram at GDC Shopian

SHOPIAN, JANUARY 20: As part of the week-long celebrations (January 19–26, 2026) commemorating Phase-II of 150 years of Vande Mataram, Day 2 of the programme was observed today at the Auditorium Hall, GDC Shopian with great patriotic fervour.

The programme was graced by Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, who attended the event as Chief Guest.The programme was attended by DySP, Mohammed Ashraf; CEO, Bashir Ahmed Shah, CEO Municipal Committee Shopian, YSSO representatives, faculty members, officers, and a large number of students.

In his address, the Chief Guest highlighted the historical significance of Vande Mataram and emphasised the role of youth in strengthening national unity and patriotism.

A vibrant cultural programme was presented by students from various educational institutions.

The performances included patriotic songs, speeches, and folk cultural items, which filled the auditorium with enthusiasm and national pride.

As a part of week long celebrations, cultural programmes commemorating 150 years of Vande Mataram were also organised at Higher Secondary School Zainapora, where students showcased various cultural performances highlighting patriotism and national unity.
