JAMMU, JANUARY 20: Director Agriculture Jammu, Anil Gupta today chaired a review meeting to assess the district-wise progress of farmers’ enrolment under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Rabi 2025–26 season across the districts of Jammu Division.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs), Dr. Ashwani Sharma; Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Jammu, Sanjay Anand; Agriculture Economist, Tilak Raj Sharma; State Heads of Reliance General Insurance and Bajaj General Insurance; Nodal Officer PMFBY (DoAJ), Anirudh Bhat along with other senior officers of the Agriculture Department.
The Director reviewed the performance of the insurance companies and directed them to optimally utilise the extended enrolment deadline till 30 January 2026 to ensure 100 percent enrolment of eligible farmers. He emphasized that field functionaries of the Agriculture Department are actively creating awareness among farmers and mobilising them for enrolment. .
The meeting also deliberated on effective strategies to further enhance farmers’ enrolment under PMFBY. The Director Agriculture directed the insurance companies and Chief Agriculture Officers to maintain close coordination with banks to expedite and streamline the enrolment process.
Further, Anil Gupta reviewed the status of PMFBY claims pertaining to Kharif 2025 and instructed the insurance companies to ensure early disbursement of pending claims so that farmers are compensated in a timely manner for the incurred losses.
