Jammu & Kashmir, Jammu | June 6, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir, inaugurated the Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge, by ceremoniously waving the Indian national flag. The bridge, located in the Reasi district, plays a vital role in connecting the Kashmir Valley to the national railway network.
As part of his visit, the Prime Minister also inaugurated India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge — the Anji Bridge, further strengthening the region’s infrastructure.
In a major boost to high-speed rail travel in the Union Territory, PM Modi is set to flag off the Vande Bharat Express from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Srinagar later today.
These landmark projects have been completed under the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL). With the final phase of this ambitious project now complete, a seamless rail corridor has been established, connecting Kashmir to Kanyakumari, effectively linking the northernmost and southernmost points of India by rail for the first time in history.
