Jammu: CP workers, ITI diploma holders of Jal Shakti Department have gone on a 72-hour strike from 8 pm on March 20 in support of their pending demands.
Permanent employees of Jal Shakti Department said that they have been serving the department for more than 20 years, but till now their future is being played with.
Call for water shutdown in Jammu from March 20
Temporary employees and members of United Front said that a call for water shutdown in Jammu has been given by United Front Jammu from March 20. During this time, employees will go on strike by leaving work. He said that this decision has been taken when the government has ignored their legitimate demands. Temporary employees of Jal Shakti Department have been struggling for many months to demand their regularization and payment of 72 months’ pending salary from the government.
United Front Chairman Mahendra Kumar Sharma said that the retired employees of the department fully support the 72-hour strike of the daily wage earners. He said that the government should stop playing with the future of the daily wage earners and regularize them as soon as possible.
This strike has been declared for 72 hours. It will depend on the government’s attitude as to when the strike will end.
