SRINAGAR: In a significant breakthrough for security forces, top militant commander Basit Dar was killed during an encounter in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
A top police officer told Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com that the operation, which unfolded in the region, resulted in the successful elimination of Basit Dar also known as Basit Rasool Dar, a prominent figure among militant ranks.
Details surrounding the encounter indicate that security forces executed a meticulously planned operation, culminating in the elimination of the high-profile militant leader.
The officer said “The demise of Basit Dar marks a significant blow to insurgent activities in the area, underscoring the unwavering commitment of security forces to combat terrorism.”
Pertinently, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had announced a cash bounty of Rs 10 lakh on Kulgam-based The Resistance Front (TRF) commander militant Basit Ahmed Dar. The reward money was announced in case 32/2021/NIA/DLI registered against Basit Ahmed Dar of Redwani Payeen, Kulgam. According to officials, Basit was the mastermind behind the spat of civilian killings in Kashmir. Basit joined The Resistance Front (TRF), a front organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Earlier, police said bodies of 02 #terrorists killed in the anti-terrorist operation recovered so far.
