Corona Update: Nine new variants of Omicron found in Jammu and Kashmir


Covid infection is spreading rapidly in Jammu and Kashmir. Heading towards the capital Srinagar and Jammu hotspots. After getting nine new variants of Covid Omicron in Jammu division, ten districts of the division have been alerted. For the last two consecutive days, more than a hundred infected cases have been found in district Jammu. In this district, the most active cases have increased to 750. On Wednesday, 434 new infected cases were found in the state, out of which district Jammu has the highest number of 154 cases. A Covid victim has also died in Jammu division. After Ramban, Ganderbal, Bandipora and Srinagar, the district Jammu administration has also made masks mandatory in public places. The speed with which the infection is increasing can ensure strict adherence to COVID appropriate behavior in public places in the coming days.
The positivity rate on the total infected cases in district Jammu is still under control, but the rate at which infected cases are being received will reach 4 to 5 percent in the coming days. The concern is that most of the infected cases being found in district Jammu are of local level, which clearly shows that the infection is spreading at the community level. So far 1229 people have died of Covid in the district. 147 new infected cases were found in Srinagar. Active cases in this district have increased to 570.
Similarly, 16 new infected cases have been found in Baramulla, 11 in Budgam, 19 in Udhampur and 31 in Kathua. Active cases in the state have increased to 1724, out of which 996 cases are from Jammu division. So far 4761 people have lost their lives due to Covid in Jammu and Kashmir. In the last 24 hours, 12966 Covid tests were conducted in the state. With increasing Covid testing, infected cases are also coming to the fore faster. There is no adherence to covid appropriate behavior in public places. Most people are avoiding masks, which is helping the infection to flourish. Social distance is also not being followed anywhere.
