LAUDABLE ENDEAVOUR
It is really a matter of great satisfaction for the people of J&K that the UT is implementing each and every recommendation made in the new education policy without any delay as things are rolling very fast towards providing meaningful education to the young lot which will also enhance the employability. In this context, Principal Secretary Higher Education Department (HED), Rohit Kansal has announced another significant measure taken by the aforesaid department whereby all colleges in J&K will introduce a 30 credit voluntary skill certification programme, which will be in addition to the curriculum prescribed by the UGC for the undergraduate programme and the aim to this will be to give the students an additional skill certification leading to their higher employability. This is really a dynamic step towards making education more skill-based and enabling the youth to become more job oriented as earlier the monotonous syllabus only helped to produce a number of graduates with no added proficiency or skills required in the real world to accomplish job obligations. Not only this, the government is about to revamped the entire system by taking several other innovative and reformative steps such as a uniform academic calendar, fidelity of the time table and exam schedule, student and institutional feedback, ERP support and biometric attendance. All the credible changes will be introduced from this year only thus bringing vibrancy in the education system at the under-graduate level. Surely, the implementation of these steps will help in tackling unemployment as every pass out from the colleges will have a specialization in a field that too with a proper certification authenticating his or her employability parameters to ensure justice as far as getting jobs is concerned. There is no doubt that the NEP 2020 is a revolutionary policy having a capability to change the entire higher educational ecosystem in India with focus on flexibility, multidisciplinary avenues and fairness to all. What is more important is the fact that J&K being the most preferred place for the government at the centre is getting all the required help in implementing the NEP 2020 on priority thus bringing the required change in a very fast manner. It is now on the younger lot to work hard and prove the mettle with grit and dedication, and become the meaningful citizen of the country.
