DOGRI DESERVES MORE
There is no doubt that the literary luminaries of Jammu region had struggled hard to ensure rightful place to the Dogri language and in this endeavour people connected with Dogri Sanstha and Department of Dogri, University of Jammu have played a significant role starting from fight for its inclusion into eight schedule of the Constitution. It is pertinent to mention that the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution of India lists the official languages of the Republic of India. The Government of India is under an obligation to take measures for the development of the languages which come under this category. Besides, a candidate appearing in an examination conducted for public service is entitled to use any of the eighth schedule languages as the medium to answer the papers. Thus, the contribution of those who realized this dream of the people of Duggarland is incredible. In the path of popularizing Dogri language now many feats have been achieved especially its introduction in Google translator platform which has given the much deserving recognition to Dogri at international arena. Keeping up the momentum, another feather in the cap of Dogri language supporters has been added as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Vigyan Prasar (VP) Department of Science & Technology, Govt of India and the Central University of Jammu (CUJ) Jammu on Science Communication Popularization and its Extension (SCoPE)-in-Dogri. This is truly a bonanza for the Dogri lovers because this will take the mother tongue of Dogras to level next. Under this MoU, Dogri science magazine, science books and translation of already published books in Dogri will be published while short popular science films in Dogri, Sci-comm training workshops, Science Poster-cum-Model competition in Dogri for school students and national level Science quiz competition in Dogri for school students besides other things will be held bringing vibrancy in the Dogri language, which is the first choice of people living on south of Pir Panjal upto Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. No matter Dogri language has achieved much but still there is much to be done to provide justice to this sweet language of valiant Dogras of Jammu region because Dogri deserves more.
