Villagers have come down on Rajouri-Poonch highway this morning to protest against the death of a resident of Rajouri in a grenade attack on a newly opened liquor shop in district Baramulla on Tuesday evening. These villagers, raising anti-government slogans by staging a protest on the highway, are demanding Rs 25 lakh for the family of Ranjit Singh, a resident of Bakra, who was killed in the grenade attack, and a government job for one member of the family.
The villagers say that until a senior official of the administration comes here and assures them of this, the process of dharna-demonstration will continue. There has been a long jam of vehicles due to the villagers coming down on the Rajouri Poonch Highway. Although senior police officers are present on the spot and trying to convince the villagers, but people remained adamant that Ranjit was the only support of his family. In such a situation, after his death, his family will become courtier. In such a situation, it becomes the duty of the government to help Ranjit’s family financially.
