ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY APPROACH
Beyond any doubt, the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has emerged as a man with conviction and the steps taken by his ministry are revolutionary in nature. In this context, he has given another meaningful assurance that soon he will ensure at least one automobile scrapping facility within 150 kilometres from each city centre. This in fact is necessary in rooting out junked vehicles and those which are unfit for use. The vision of the Union Highways Minister is so insightful that he has plans to make the country a vehicle scrapping hub of the entire South Asian region. The people of such caliber are the real nation builders as their innovative initiatives prove out to be bountiful for the country and its people. The facility to scrap old and unfit vehicles is necessary to tackle rising pollution as the same is one of major issues which the country is confronting since quite some time now. In the absence of scrapping facility in the country, people are using unfit vehicles as and when they get a chance thus denting the clean environs of the country. The scrapping facility is an affordable venture and can be good for those who want to invest safely. The road transport and highways ministry has designed the vehicle scrapping policy in a way that allows all types and sizes of investors to come and establish scrapping centres. The minister has in offing other ideas also like developing multiple authorised collection centres of vehicle scrapping units in one city, which will have the authority to deregister a vehicle and issue deposit certificates. Such farsighted personalities in the parliament are the need of the time as India has incurred colossal losses in the past due to dearth of capable people sitting at helm. It is pertinent to mention that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the National Vehicle Scrappage Policy in August last year and had said it will help phase out unfit and polluting vehicles and also promote a circular economy. This initiative also has the potential to provide crores of job avenues both direct and indirect to people in need for livelihood. It is likely that more benefits will be offered to commuters after full implementation of this policy to get rid of old and unfit vehicles.
