MOBILE MENACE CONTINUES
There is no doubt in the fact that Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has recently said while answering a question in the Lok Sabha that there will be no challan for the use of hands-free device during driving but people continue to use their cell phones posing risk to themselves and their fellow commuters. The situation in case of bikers and scooty riders is more perilous as many of these were seen using mobiles while driving their two wheelers. On one side the government is showing so much concern that no one is unnecessarily booked under law for using the mobiles as it has come up with solution that talking on the mobile while driving the car will not be punishable anymore in India if the commuters will use a hands-free device but on the other the commuters are not mending their ways and doing a thing which is illegal as mobile phones usage is a dangerous activity and cause fatal accidents. As far as traffic cops cutting a Challan for using hands-free devices in cars is concerned, the Gadkari has averred in the Lok Sabha recently that the same can be challenged in the court of law. Of course if one uses the mobile and talks on it then the traffic police will has the right to fine the defaulters. It is advisable now to install hands-free devices in the vehicles to avoid litigations and confrontations with the cops besides ensuring the safety of one and all. It has been observed that there are a good number of people in J&K who are so obsessed with regard to their cell phones that they can’t stop themselves from reading a message or responding to a call if it is there while they are driving a vehicle. Such people are dangerous for society as using cell phones while driving is a dangerous thing as lives are involved and many times people fail to remain alert on roads while answering a call or texting while driving. This is suicidal and should be avoided by all means because putting life to danger is in no way justified.
