RIGHT TRACK

RIGHT TRACK

There is no doubt that Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory is treading the right path as its name has started figuring in top slots under different parameters of development across the country. This is contrary to earlier situations when nobody used to bother about the ranking of the UT as it usually stands last in the queue in almost all the positive things including development goals. In this context, J&K has got another feather in its hat as six districts of the Union Territory have found place in 30 top performing districts at national level in implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) during the financial year 2021-22. This is a big achievement and matter of pride for anyone and everyone who is connected with J&K UT especially the Jammu Province as all the six districts reportedly fall in this region of the UT making the news really the special one for the Jammuites. This feat is the testimony to the fact that J&K has toiled hard to achieve this kind of success telling the world that things have been changed here as Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar, Reasi, Kathua and Rajouri districts got the much awaited recognition by getting their names inscribed in the aforesaid list. Among these six districts, Udhampur is top performing with completion of 644.05 km of road network during 2021-22 under PMGSY. It is followed by Doda district which completed construction of 362.5 km road network, Kishtwar which constructed 302.885 km of roads, Reasi which completed construction of 299.004 km of roads, Kathua which constructed 275.88 km of roads and Rajouri district which achieved completion of 215.985 km of road network come next in sequence. The ranking of the districts under PMGSY was released recently by the Union Ministry of Rural Development. PMGSY is a programme funded by the Union Government to provide connectivity to unconnected habitations having populations of more than 250 in the States and Union Territories. This is not the only case as J&K is leading in all aspects after the abrogation of Article 370 by the BJP Government led by PM Narendra Modi. As the UT is marching ahead people should keep their fingers crossed to get more of such news about J&K surmounting its age old problems and leading the groups of UTs and states to achieve ultimate progress.
