Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu today reviewed the working of Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, Srinagar in a meeting here at the Civil Secretariat.
The meeting was attended by Sh. BVR Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary; Sh. Arun Kumar Mehta, Financial Commissioner, Finance; Sh. Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education and Prof. A. G. Ahangar, Director SKIMS.
The Lt Governor directed the functionaries of SKIMS to prepare a comprehensive futuristic plan with vision of growth and development of health infrastructure and medi-care facilities. He further asked them to conduct a comparative study of SKIMS with other deemed Medical Universities of repute and Hospitals across the country and suggest measures for improving the different processes and administration of SKIMS by emulating from best practices.
The Lt Governor categorically instructed the functionaries to shun adhocism of any sort across all levels and asked them to effectively utilize the available man-power and infrastructural resources to provide best possible medical facilities to the people coming from the most relegated sections of the society.
He asked the officers to submit the proposal for filling the vacant post in Emergency Medicine and Blood Transfusion and further directed them to submit the DPR for creation of Trauma Centre.
The chair was also briefed about various issues related to SKIMS including recruitment of staff to fill up vacant posts and other issues concerning infrastructural requirement and of administrative importance.
