DB directs DC Budgam to file response clearly stating as to how brick kilns are being allowed to operate within 08 kms of Airport

JKUT (Jammu), September-06-2021-( JNF):-  Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Sanjay Dhar, directed Deputy Commissioner Budgam to file response clearly stating as to how brick kilns are being allowed to operate within 08 kms of radius from the centre of the runway in spite of clear direction of this Court contained in the order dated 18.10.2019 and the subsequent orders. DB further directed DC Budgam to submit a list of all such brick kilns with name of their owners so that, if necessary, they may also be given appropriate notice and directed to close down the brick kilns.

This order has been passed in an application filed in High Court wherein it has been contended that despite ban order on operation of brick kilns operating within 08 kms of radius from the centre of the runway of the Srinagar Airport, several brick kilns are still functioning and causing smog which is a hazard in the operation of flights.

Meanwhile in an application filed by one Atul Spolia against the illegal running of the brick kiln by Ashok Kumar, in District Kathua of the Jammu province, Division Bench directed Ashok Kumar, the owner of the brick kiln is directed not to run the said brick kiln, if his permission/ licence has already expired and has not been renewed. JNF
