Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, Nuzhat Ishfaq meets Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta

Raised different developmental and other issues relating to Ganderbal district which require high priority attention.

Srinagar, 02 June 2021: Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, former Member J&K Legislative Assembly from Ganderbal, and DDC Chairperson Ganderbal Nuzhat Ishfaq met the new Chief Secretary, J&K Dr Arun Kumar Mehta at Civil Secretariat here in Srinagar to project demands of people of Ganderbal district.

In the meeting, the duo gave a warm welcome and hearted congratulations to Mehta on his posting as Chief Secretary J&K.

Both the leaders briefed the Chief Secretary about the ongoing schemes in Ganderbal constituency and projected certain demands for the balanced development of Ganderbal constituency. They also discussed with Chief Secretary certain impediments which were delaying the implementation of several important development schemes in Ganderbal district.

Both the leaders apprised him with various issues regarding the Ganderbal district. They raised the issue of CUK, HEP-II, Pandach-Beehama Road Widening, Women Degree and professional college for Ganderbal, District Hospital Ganderbal, Lift irrigation schemes, main Bus Adda Ganderbal, Drugging and remodeling of Tullamulla- Shadipora Nallah, Zazna fruit mandi, Fire Service stations, upgradation and macdamization of roads, upgradation of schools and infra structure, upgradation of sports and play fields, upgrdation and renovation of parks, besides other issues demands.

Nuzhat raised the different issues & problems which PRIs are facing in the district and the role which PRIs are playing amid covid-19 pandamic.

During the meeting the duo apprised the Chief Secretary about the Health sector of the district and raised the issues and problems faced by the people during their visit to the district hospital Ganderbal. They raised the issue of dearth of doctors, technicians and other paramedics. They also demanded CT-scan facility, Critical care ambulance and other facilities in the district hospital Ganderbal.

Both Jabbar and Nuzhat raised the issue of Central University of Kashmir with the CS and said that the CUK campus is presently working at different locations in Ganderbal.They demanded that the construction work at the identified site at Tullamulla needs to be taken up on priority basis and be shifted to the designated place at Tullamulla at an earliest. They demanded that locals especially who have donated their land must be employeed in the CUK.

The Authorities are unnecessary delaying the start of work on 93MW New Ganderbal Hydro Electric Power Project, which needs to be taken on priority basis, the duo informed the Chief Secretary. Chief Secretary assured former MLA Ganderbal that we will explore all options and assured him that the work on the project will be started soon.

They riased the issue of new women degree college and professional and technical college with Chief secretary and breifed him about the rigid terrain and topography of Ganderbal district, there is a need of setting up of several degree colleges in the district so that the students don’t drop out after passing their secondary education.

They said by establishing Degree Colleges and professional colleges in the area would be a boost to the education in the district, which otherwise continues to remain educationally backward. He also retirates his demanded of separate women college for girls in the district.

Regarding the four lane Pandach-Beehama road both the leaders informed Chief Secretary that the work on the important road project which connects valley to Ladakh besides is the main route to Amarnath and Khirbhawani started in April 2018 under CRF but the progress of the work is very slow besides the funds may be released for land acquisition. Chief Secretary assured them that all the bottlenecks with this regard will be cleared and the work will be expidited.

They also raised the issue of Unani college & hospital Nawabagh and said the hospital is ready in all respects and demanded immediate functioning of the hospital as well as the college.

Mr Jabbar demanded Drugging & remodeling of Tullamulla Nallah (River), Beehama Nagpov, Baba Canal abd other rivers. They said the Tullamulla Khirbhawani Shadioora nallah posses threat to Temple of Khirbhawani and thousands of Kanals of land besides threat to the population.

While apprising about the demand of the locals of Fhaq, abd Shairpathri they appealed CS to direct the Fire and Emergency for establishment of Fire Service station in these areas.

They also raised the waliwar, wutlar, Narayanbagh and Badampora lift irrigation schemes and Gogigund dewatering station upgradation and augmentation demand in these areas. They raised the issue of willow workers with the Chief Secretary and said that around seventy percent population of the many villages of my Constituency including women are associated with the willow work and demands all facilities which include Mandi , boilers and clusters etc.

Both the leaders demand expedite of work and release of funds for different sports & play fields which include Beehama, Lar and others.

The duo also demanded release of the funds for, Babosipora Yenihama bridge, Guzhama bridge and upgradation of roads. They also raised the work upgradation of roads in Ganderbal district especially in PMGSY scheme.

Nuzhat & Jabbar also discussed the upgradation of schools, infrastructure and accomodation with the CS.

They demanded release of funds for the development of Mohandmarag and beautification of banks of Nallah Sindh and other Tourism projects.

The Chief Secretary assured the the duo that all their genuine demands would be addressed at an earliest and urged them to continue their positive endeavours for promoting a peaceful environment which would enhance people’s welfare and enable rapid development.
