Former chief minister and National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday urged people to come out in large number and vote for Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) candidates in the upcoming DDC elections.
Meanwhile, former chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti also reiterated the appeal of Dr Farooq, urging people to vote for the PAGD candidates.
In a video release on social media, including Twitter, Dr Abdullah appealed to the people of J&K to vote for PAGD candidates in the DDC elections. “Dear countrymen, the time of election is nearing… I urge all of you to come out in large numbers and vote for the alliance candidates. Others who have stood in the election and say that they are a part of the alliance are lying… they are not a part the alliance, but the enemy of the alliance,” Dr Farooq said in the video.
The former chief minister said that if the people of J&K have to succeed then they have to vote for the alliance. “The alliance was formed to restore Article 370 and Article 35 A that was scrapped by the centre,” he said.Dr Farooq said that they have joined hands to keep J&K together. “So I once again urge you the vote for the candidates of the alliance,” he added.
Mr Omar, who is Vice President of NC, while sharing to video on his twitter account wrote, “Dr Farooq Abdullah has recorded an appeal asking voters to support @JKPAGD candidates in the upcoming DDC polls in J&K. He looks forward to campaigning once the period of self-isolation ends.”
Ms Mehbooba, who is the president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alleged that the J&K government is leaving no stone unturned to stop the movement of PAGD candidates. “In light of this situation, people should make sure to vote for PAGD in large numbers. An appeal has been made by PAGD chairperson Farooq,” Ms Mehbooba wrote on twitter alongwith the video of Dr Farooq.
PAGD, which is an alliance of six political parties, are contesting the DDC polls in J&K as a coalition.
