BJP demands action against Farooq, Mehbooba for their seditious remarks

Demanding action against National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti for their seditious remarks, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday alleged that the statements of these leaders change when they are in power and outside.

These leaders are responsible for the violence and killing of youths in the valley, Kashmir affairs incharge and Union Territory (UT) General secretary Vibodh Gupta told reporters here today.

He said when Mehbooba Mufti was chief minister with the support of BJP, she used to say that only Narendra Modi has the capacity to resolve the Kashmir problem once and for all. However, when Mr Modi resolved the issue by abrogating Article 370 and 35 A, now Mehbooba is raising questions.

Mr Gupta said now Mehbooba is saying that she will not hold the National Flag until the flag of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir is not restored which is anti national. He  said after the abrogation of special status of the Jammu and Kashmir there is only one flag that is tri-colour. This is a sedative statement and action should be taken against Mehbooba, he demanded.

He said when she was in power she wants stern action against the youth of the valley. She as a chief minister is on record to have said in the Legislative Assembly and Council that youth are not going to buy toffees and milk from Army camps when they are pelting stones. Now out of the power her statement had changed, he alleged and said people in Kashmir will not forget their double speak—one when they are in power and another outside.

About Dr Farooq Abdullah, Mr Gupta said he should also be punished for his sedative statement seeking Chinese help to restore Article 370. His son Omar Abdullah was a minister in the NDA government headed by Atal Behari Vajpayee despite the fact he fully knows that RSS was supporting it, he said adding why NC did not raise any question then.

He said with full majority in the Legislative Assembly, the NC passed Autonomy resolution but then NDA government put it into dustbin. Why Omar did not resign but instead continued to enjoy the ministry in the NDA government, he asked.
