Udhampur: Wide range of activities held in 64 Panchayats on day 3 of B2V3

Wide range of activities were held in 64 Panchayats on day 3 of Back to Village –phase 3 programme in Udhampur district.

The day witnessed Gram sabhas, cultural events featuring Dogri folk dance and songs,  sports activities, Presentation of Coffee table booklet, Laying of foundation stone, Greh pavesh of PMAY beneficiaries and inauguration of newly completed works in  Panchayats.

During the public meets, the people raised a multitude of issues seeking augmentation of power supply, better Medicare facilities, road connectivity, potable water, school up-gradation, availability of ambulances for patients, among others issues.

Bal Sabhas and Women sabhas were also organised in these panchayats to aware children and women about different schemes for their welfare.

During these meets, women were also educated about the importance of being self-reliant. They were given the information about formation of Self-Help Groups (SHG) and various skill development programmes, besides other state and centrally sponsored schemes.

The Visiting officers inspected public services.  The designated officers were accompanied by officers/officials from concerned line departments  to ensure proper understanding and recording of grievances.

District Development Commissioner, Dr Piyush Singla sought active participation of people in the   flagship programme. He asked the rural people to grab the opportunity and get their issues resolved  during the programme. He added that the feedback so obtained will help to strengthen the Panchayati Raj and to improve delivery of village-specific services.
