Jammu Kashmir Health Scheme registration begins at CSCs

Deputy Commissioner (Chairman, District Health Society), Srinagar, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary reviewed the arrangements for enrolment of citizens under the Jammu Kashmir Health Scheme which provides universal medical health cover. The scheme was recently launched by Lt Governor J&K.

The registration under the Jammu Kashmir Health Scheme was rolled out from today. The schemes provides health cover of Rs 5 Lakh per family per year and all the residents are entitled to avail benefit under the scheme irrespective of income slabs. There is no cap on the family size and benefits are portable across the country, a pat from the public and private hospitals within Jammu and Kashmir empanelled under the scheme.

District Administration, Srinagar is endeavoring to ensure universal registration of all the residents in district for maximum benefit to public. Presently, nearly hundred Common Service Centres are operational in the district where citizens can registered under the scheme. The registration fees for the scheme us Rs 30. In view of inactive CSCs in few areas and uncovered areas the district administration in collaboration with CSC is organizing enrolment camps for ensuring universal coverage.

The Deputy Commissioner Srinagar has impressed upon functionaries of health department, ICDS, Rural Development, Revenue and Municipal officials for reaching out to public and facilitating enrolment under the Jammu Kashmir Health Scheme. The District Red Cross Society has also been associated with the process and database of patients, poor and destitute registered therein has been provided to the district call centre for reaching out to them to avail benefits under the scheme.

Departments have been asked to ensure maximum public awareness about the health cover scheme benefits and facilitating registrations. Enrolment under the Jammu Kashmir Health Scheme shall also be focused under the ongoing public outreach initiative and the back to village programme scheduled to commence in first week of October .

Addl Deputy Commissioner, Syed Hanief Balkhi, Jt Director Planning Mohammad Yaseen Lone, District Coordinator CSC and senior officers from various departments were present in the meeting.
