The Government on Saturday informed that 1492 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 831 from Jammu division and 661 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 62533. Also 21 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 14 from Jammu division and 07 from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 960 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 322 from Jammu Division and 638 from Kashmir Division.
According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 62533 positive cases, 21281 are Active Positive, 40265 have recovered and 987 have died; 223 in Jammu division and 764 in Kashmir division.
The Bulletin further said that out of 1369702 test results available, 1307169 samples have been tested as negative till September 19, 2020.
Till date 542123 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 29078 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 21281 in isolation and 66076 under home surveillance. Besides, 424701 persons have completed their surveillance period.
Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Srinagar has 12829 positive cases (including 192 cases reported today) with 2021 Active Positive, 10545 recovered (including 260 cases recovered today), 263 deaths; Baramulla has 3758 positive cases (including 32 cases reported today) with 1037 Active Positive, 2606 recovered (including 64 cases reported today), 115 deaths; Pulwama reported 3484 positive cases (including 71 cases reported today) with 514 active positive cases, 2907 recovered (including 43 cases recovered today), 63 deaths; Kulgam has 2165 positive cases (including 12 cases reported today) with 153 Active Positive, 1969 recoveries (including 03 cases recovered today), 43 deaths; Shopian has 1921 positive cases (including 05 cases reported today) with 169 Active Positive, 1722 recovered (including 19 cases recovered today), 30 deaths; Anantnag district has 3203 positive cases (including 52 cases reported today) with 810 Active Positive, 2338 recovered (including 43 cases recovered today), 55 deaths; Budgam has 4286 positive cases (including 68 cases reported today) with 1653 Active Positive and 2557 recovered (including 49 cases recovered today), 76 deaths; Kupwara has 3178 positive cases (including 99 cases reported today) with 937 Active Positive, 2180 recovered (including 87 cases recovered today), 61 deaths; Bandipora has 3120 positive cases (including 37 cases reported today) with 1036 Active Positive, 2052 recovered (including 18 cases recovered today), 32 deaths and Ganderbal has 2503 positive cases (including 93 cases reported today) with 633 active positive cases, 1844 recoveries (including 52 cases recovered today) and 26 deaths.
Similarly, Jammu has 9911 positive cases (including 261 cases reported today) with 6303 active positive cases, 3477 recoveries (including 134 cases recovered today), 131 deaths; Rajouri has 2010 positive cases (including 87 cases reported today) with 1096 active positive cases, 893 recovered (including 15 case recovered today), 21 deaths; Ramban has 1012 positive cases (including 43 cases reported today) with 313 active positive, 693 recoveries (including 08 cases recovered today), 06 deaths; Kathua has 1673 positive cases (including 54 cases reported today) with 621 Active positive, 1038 recovered (including 49 cases recovered today), 14 deaths; Udhampur has 1735 positive cases (including 19 cases reported today) with 754 active positive cases, 972 recovered (including 13 cases recovered today), 09 deaths; Samba has 1358 positive cases (including 62 cases reported today) with 697 Active Positive, 651 recoveries, 10 deaths; Doda has 1535 positive cases (including 185 cases reported today) with 988 active positive cases, 530 recoveries (including 23 cases recovered today), 17 deaths; Poonch has 1296 positive cases (including 57 cases reported today) with 807 active positive, 481 recoveries (including 44 cases recovered today), 08 deaths; Reasi has 726 positive cases (including 25 cases reported today) with 328 active positive, 394 recoveries (including 09 cases reported today) and 04 deaths while Kishtwar has 830 positive cases (including 38 cases reported today) with 411 active positive cases and 416 recoveries (including 27 cases recovered today) and 03 deaths.
According to the bulletin, of the total 62533 positive cases in J&K 8118 have been reported as travelers while 54415 as others.
The Bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meter from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
The bulletin again explained that early detection of COVID-19 can prevent the spread of disease so we need to be responsible for the well-being of ourselves and everyone around us. “Not disclosing symptoms could put life of individuals and their families at risk. In case of symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing report early. Do not fear, call COVID-19 helpline numbers and seek medical advice”.
Advisory has further exhorted upon the people not to step out of home, unless absolutely necessary. “If you have to move out for unavoidable reasons, ensure that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, personal hygiene and frequent hand washing with soap and water.”

The bulletin has informed that the Directorate of Indian Systems of Medicine, J&K is distributing AYUSH Medicines having immunity boosting, immuno-modulator, anti-oxidant, rejuvenator, anti-stress, metabolism regulator, anti-allergic, anti-pyretic, anti-tussive, bronchodilator, etc properties during the COVID-19 pandemic. The department so far has provided medicine to 9.44 lakh people that include various frontline workers, senior citizens, PRIs, police/paramilitary personals and general masses. Moreover, preventive measures and Yoga therapies are also being advised to the people to take care of lifestyle/mental disorders so that physical and mental health is ensured during this pandemic.
