Multimedia show on Dogra Dynasty soon in Jammu: Tourism Department

The winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir will soon have multimedia show in line with  Delhi’s Akshardham on Dogra dynasty at Bagh-e-Bahu here on city heights.

“Jammu city will soon get a new landmark that will put in focus and highlight Dogra rule in the region,” Raj Kumar Katoch, Director Jammu Tourism here told UNI.

He said that the mega multimedia project worth Rs 10.82 crore is coming up under centrally sponsored scheme to give fillip to tourism sector.

The project was sanctioned two years back but could not take off due to some unavoidable circumstances, said the Director.

“The work is in full swing and the project may get commissioned by another two months,” said Mr Katoch adding, “it will be first of its kind project in Jammu and the story to be displayed in the backdrop of laser show on a huge screen, which is in its final stage.”

He revealed that renowned historians having knowledge about Dogra dynasty, have been engaged to script the stories on Dogra history, to be showcased at the mega multimedia show.

“A dedicated power supply is required for this huge project and it is our immediate requirement for which more funds are needed and the matter has been taken up at the concerned quarters,” said Katoch.

The project is coming up on the pattern of Akshardham water show having colourful fountain, music, sound effects, story and pictures appearing on a huge screen.

As many as 400 people can watch the 30-minute show at a time to be broadcast in Hindi at in the lawns of Bagh-e-Bahu that overlooks the Jammu city of Jammu.

Recently, in a significant development, NCERT has also included the chapter on Dogra regime of Jammu and Kashmir that will be taught in the 8th grade history book.
