JKBOSE Syllabus 2020: Jammu and Kashmir administration reduces class 10th 12th syllabus by 30%

Jammu and Kashmir Administration on August 14, 2020, announced a reduction of 30 per cent in the syllabus for students appearing in JKBOSE Class 10th and Class 12th exams in this academic year. The Principal Secretary, School Education Department, J&K, Asgar Hassan Samoon announced the syllabus reduction on his Twitter handle.

“Syllabus for 10+2 reduced to 70 per cent in JK UT. This also applies for 10th class syllabus for exams,” he said. JKBOSE is the most recent Board to have reduced the syllabus after CBSE, ICSE and many other state education boards. Take a look at the tweet below.

JKBOSE officials have also recommended the Administrative Council to provide an option to the Board students to attempt only 60 to 70 per cent of the Board exam question papers this year.  “The decision will definitely help students to a great extent as the closure of schools due to extended lockdowns has affected their studies,” said a senior JKBOSE official as informed by a local daily.

On March 11, the J-K Administration ordered the closure of all educational institutions in the territory which included schools, colleges, and universities, for all teaching and non-teaching staff along with the students following the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic.

The principal secretary also mentioned on his social media account that, “New Education Policy 2020, for higher education at doorsteps of 10+2 students, the existing 777 higher secondary schools need to be upgraded to degree colleges by adding additional classrooms/libraries/ labs in these higher secondary schools immediately.”Also as per the secretary, JKSCERT would soon be established to improve quality of education and for curriculum reforms and teacher education in the UT.
