Ten people — including nine from Kashmir and one from Jammu — died due to COVID-19 since late Monday evening, taking the total death toll due to the infection in the Union Territory of J&K to 331.With these deaths, 296 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in 54 days, and 316 people in 68 day in J&K, where 470 new positive cases were detected on Monday, taking the total number of infected persons to 18390.Official sources said a 60-year-old man, a resident of Budgam, was admitted to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) for bilateral Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) last week. “The patient, who tested positive for COVID-19, died at the hospital on Tuesday,” they said.They said a 25-year-old youth, a resident of Ramban, died at Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu on Tuesday. “The patient, who had tested positive for COVID-19 on July 17, was suffering from Spinal tuberculosis, besides other ailments,” they said.They said that a 62-year-old man, a resident of Batamaloo in Srinagar, was admitted to SKIMS on July 17 for respiratory problem. “The patient, who had tested positive for COVID-19, died at the hospital on Tuesday,” they said.
The said a 75-year-old man, a resident of Sopore in Baramulla, was admitted to SKIMS on last Saturday for pneumonia. “The COVID-19 positive patient died at the hospital on Tuesday,” they said.
Another patient from Srinagar, a 60-year-old woman from Nowhatta died at the hospital on Tuesday. “The patient, who had tested positive for COVID-19, was suffering from respiratory problems, besides other ailments,” they said.
They said a Kulgam resident, a 59-year-old man, who had tested positive for COVID-19, died at the hospital on Tuesday. “The patient was suffering from pneumonia and hypertension,” they added.
Sources said three patients from Srinagar — including 85-year-old man from Barzulla, 72-year-old man from Eidgah and 69 year old patient from Hyderpora — died at SHMS hospital on Monday evening. “The Hyderpora and Eidgah residents, who had tested positive for COVID-19, were suffering from bilateral pneumonia,” they said.
A Pulwama resident, a 65-year-old COVID-19 positive, died at Chest Disease hospital on Monday evening, they added.
With these fatalities, Ramban district recorded the first death due to COVID-19. The death toll due to COVID-19 has risen to 99 in Srinagar which is the worst affected district in J&K in terms of causalities, followed by Baramulla with 64 deaths. The number has swelled to 19 in Pulwama while the death toll stands at 24 in Budgam and 21 in Anantnag. As many as 20 people have lost their lives to the disease in Shopian while 18 deaths have been reported in Kupwara.
The number of deaths stands at 28 in Kulgam. Nine people have lost their lives in Bandipora. Ganderbal district recorded sixth death due to COVID-19 on July 24.
Ten districts of Jammu have reported 23 fatalities while 306 people have lost their lived due to COVID-19 in ten districts of Kashmir.
As many as 61 people, including 57 from Kashmir and four from Jammu, lost their lives due to COVID-19 during last week.
Sixty five people lost their lives between July 13 and July 19 due to COVID-19 in J&K. As many as 48 patients — including 10 persons from Baramulla, 12 from Srinagar, six from Kulgam, three from Anantnag, Kupwara and Budgam, Jammu region, two each from Shopian and Ganderbal, one patient each from Pulwama, Bandipora and a BSF jawan — died due to COVID-19 between July 6 and July 12.
As many as 41 people — including nine from Srinagar, 10 from Baramulla, five each from Anantnag, three from Kulgam, Budgam and Shopian, two each from Kupwara and Bandipora, one each from Jammu and Ganderbal — died due to COVID-19 between June 29 and July 5.
