Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education Department, Talat Parvez Rohella, on the second day of his tour here, inspected various educational institutions here and took stock of the infrastructural and ongoing developmental Works being executed by various agencies in these learning centers.
He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Rajinder Singh Tara; Additional District Development Commissioner, Mohd Hanief Malik; Principal GDC Kishtwar Dr. Anirudh Gupta; Principal Polytechnic College Kishtwar; XEn PDD (electrical), Roshan Lal; AEE PWD, Masood Mintoo, DGM JKPCC, Raman Sahni besides other officers and officials.
During the tour, the Commissioner Secretary inspected the pace of work on College Auditorium being constructed by R&B and 50-bed SC Hostel being constructed by JKPCC near GDC Campus. He suggested having the heating arrangement in the auditorium for comfort of students in winters.
While interacting with the staff members of the College, he asked them focus on Skill enhancement of the students along with academics to increase their employability after they leave the college.
He announced introduction of Music and Psychology subjects and three new posts for the college, which he said have been approved on the demand of the students. He said the 2 posts have been created for the new subjects and the students would be able to opt for these subjects from the next session. He said one post of Assistant Professor has been sanctioned for the IT stream. He directed R&B functionaries to complete the construction of Science Block before the commencement of next session so that science classes are started there.
Meanwhile, Talat Parvez also inspected the Indoor Sports Stadium at Girls Higher Sec. School in the Township and took stock of the developmental activities there.
The DGM, JKPCC informed that the indoor stadium is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.82 cr and Rs 1.72 crore has been incurred till date.
The Commissioner Secretary asked the executing to keep provision of Yoga /Wellness centre and Gymnasium in the stadium for girl students.
He also visited the site for the Government Polytechnic College building and reviewed the progress of work there. The DGM, JKPCC, said that the college would have three blocks viz Administrative, Academic and the Workshop and is estimated to cost Rs 13 crore. He said Rs 3.02 crore has been incurred and the project is targeted to be completed in Dec 2021.
On the way, the Commissioner Secretary also inspected two 400 KV capacity transformers installed in the premises of the District Industrial Centre for smooth power supply to the various industrial units at Sangrambhata area.
Earlier, he also interacted with president Municipal Council Kishtwar, BDC chairpersons and Sarpanchs of the district. The elected representatives apprised him about the bottlenecks faced by them in the implementation of policies and schemes in their areas.
The Commissioner Secretary asked the BDC chairpersons Sarpanchs and members of urban local bodies to be resourceful and manageable to enrich the grassroots level democratic institutions.
He asked them to shift their focus on the wider issues like rural livelihood and rural hygiene. He directed DDC to identify educationally backward areas in the district so that some special measures are taken to fill the gap in these areas. He further stressed on the BDC chairpersons to promote Fish farming, cattle rearing and horticulture activities in their areas.
