Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for Urinary Disorders (R.A.R.I.U.D), at JDA colony Rajinder Nagar, BANTALAB, Jammu, a peripheral institute under Central Council for Research in Ayurveda Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India is providing free multi-phased services to the public of Jammu and nearby area.
In an interview with Jugal Kishore Gupta of North in News Media, Dr. V.C. Deep – Asstt. Director In -charge of RARIUD, told that mostly patients suffering with kidney stone, neuromuscular problems, gout, skin diseases, female disorders, piles, fistula, hemiplegia, backache, headache parkinson’s disease osteoarithritis, psoriasis visit the RARIUD for their treatment. IPD facilities are also provided with minimum charges. It is free for the patients of the families belonging to below poverty line. Most of the chronic diseases like hemiplegia, sciatica, psoriasis etc are treated in IPD. Quality and effective drugs of Govt. pharmacies are provided to the OP and IP patients of the institute.
RARIUD also provide specialized purification, stress reliving and immune – booster techniques called PANCHKARMA in which toxins removed by emesis, purgation, enema, nasal inhalation and bloodletting. Kareleeyaspecialities of Panhhkarma like shirodhara, takradhara, patrapindasweada, shshtikaShalipindasweda, Shirolepaetc are also performed here for the patients.
Ksharasutra department of the institute is providing special treatment of piles, fistula in ano and fissure in ano. Special treatment Agnikarma is done for tennis elbow, plantar facilities, carpal tunnel syndrome etc. various bloodletting procedures like Leech Therapy, Venesection etc. are carried out for skin diseases, itching, varicose vein etc. under medical supervision.
The pathology and biochemistry department is involved in blood and urine investigations. Fully Automated Analyzer, X – Ray Machine CR System and Ultrasound Machine etc. are functioning for the precise diagnoses of the disease.
The institution has well maintained library with scientific books for reference and also medicinal plant garden. The pharmacognosy department of the institute is involved in various research projects for identification of original plant material.
Outreach activities for the benefit of SC/ST are regularly organized by the institute. The team comprising of doctor, pharmacist, lab technician etc. are visiting selected villages daily and medicines are distributed to the needy. The institute is focusing on the research projects and at present, research study is being carried out on kidney stone.
In Jan, 2020, the institute has organized a national seminar on Ayurveda and integrative medicines at Jammu. The Research Officers in R.A.R.I.U.D namely PoonamMohad, Aditya Shah and Gopesh Kumar Sharma actively participated in the interview and contributed much to the information and knowledge about the medical activities of this professionally skilled institute.
