BJP’s virtual rally focuses on politics alone, ignores J&K issues: Harsh

Accusing the BJP of disregarding the aspirations of the people of J&K and ignoring the burning issues of masses in its yesterday’s virtual rally, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman-JKNPP & former Minister said that the ruling party had failed to inspire the teeming millions of the new UT. The saffron party had given wide publicity to the said rally with high hopes generated amongst various sections of society which eventually ended in smoke, said Harsh. He added that the so called Jan Samvad rally had caused huge disappointment not only amongst the common masses but had also demoratized the die-hard supporters of the saffron regime. He was addressing a press conference in Jammu today.

It was expected that top leadership of the country addressing the virtual rally would address and redress the grievances of the people of J&K and announce measures to mitigate their sufferings, said Singh. “Nothing of the sort happened. The self aggrandizing BJP leadership, as usual, indulged in incessant chest thumping making lofty claims over its development agenda which however remained elusive on the ground. With a complete mismatch between its rhetoric and ground delivery, the statements of its leaders merely evoked cynicism rather than any kind of appreciation. The BJP leaders failed to satisfy the people over the newly enacted domicile law and recruitment rules. The SRO-202 which had generated a lot of heat in the new UT failed to find a mention in the statements of the top BJP leaders despite assurances of its revocation given in the past by its local leaders. The central leadership was expected to make an announcement with regard to growing public anger against multiple Toll Plazas installed in and around Jammu which unfortunately did not fructify. The announcement with regard to restoration of 4G connectivity was another expectation of the people which too ended in a fiasco. The youth, in particular, was the most disappointed lot as not a word about SRO-202 revocation or 4G connectivity or mass promotion was uttered by the central leadership which runs the state of affairs in J&K.

Questioning further the timing of the rally, Mr. Singh said that with the nation confronted with the ever growing threat of Corona besides border disputes created by hostile neighbours, the holding of political campaigns at the Juncture only revealed the insensitivity of the saffron regime.

Mrs. Manju Singh, State General Secretary-JKNPP, Mr. Gagan Pratap Singh, State Secretary-JKNPP & Mr. Surinder Chouhan, District President Jammu Rural-JKNPP were also present in the press conference.
