Jammu and Kashmir reported eight more cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, taking the total in the union territory to 2726.
All cases were reported in the border district of Poonch, in people who had come to the UT from different parts of India.
“Eight more tested positive this morning, all travellers and are already in quarantine. Three are from Mumbai, three from Aligarh and one each from Ludhiana and Delhi. All their contacts will be tested again. The tally has now reached 57,” Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, Rahul Yadav revealed this afternoon on social media.
Out of total 2,726 positive cases in J-K, 1,740 are active cases while 953 patients have been cured and discharged from different hospitals. Thirty-three deaths, four from Jammu and 29 from Kashmir Valley have been reported so far.
On late Tuesday evening, a pregnant woman, who had returned to Sunderbani after a medical checkup in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu tested positive. A police constable posted in the District Police Lines (DPL,) Udhampur and a man, who runs a Dhaba outside a quarantine centre also tested positive.
A 28-year old woman banker at Noida in Uttar Pradesh, who had returned to her residence at Bantalab by air, a 23-year old boy of Domana with travel history of Ludhiana, a 36-year old man from Akhnoor with travel history of Kerala, a 51-year old female from Durga Nagar, a 29-year-old woman, an 80-year old woman from Palath, a 60-year old female from Bishnah and 26-year old youth from Akhnoor, all in Jammu district tested positive on late Tuesday evening.
