Two Army soldiers, who were earlier critically injured in cross-border shelling by Pakistan in the Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, succumbed to injuries in a military hospital on Friday evening.

Two other injured soldiers have been identified as Havaldar Narayan Singh and Naik Pradeep Bhat. The injured also include four civilians.
“Today at about 15:30 [3:30 pm] hours, Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation (CFV) along the LoC in Rampur Sector, District Baramulla (J&K). Three soldiers have been injured in the CFV,” Army spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia said.
Four civilians — Shanaza Bano (12), Tahira Bano (20), Touseef Ahmad Khatana (4), and Hassan B — suffered injuries at Churanda village in the ceasefire violations.
According to police, the incident occurred after several shells landed in the civilian areas that also created panic at Chrunda, Batgran, Hathlanga, Mothal, Sahoora, Silikote, Balkote, Nambla, and Garkote areas.
Some splinters also landed in main town Uri and near the SDM office.
The Indian Army also responded to Pakistani shelling and firing by targeting their installations across the LoC.
