3-Day Skill Development Programme under HADP, Silk Samagra-2 commences at Bandipora

BANDIPORA, APRIL 28: Sericulture Development Department Bandipora today kick started a three-day Skill Development Training Programme under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and Silk Samagra-2 for the year 2026-27.

The programme aims to strengthen the sericulture sector and enhance the income of farmers through capacity building and adoption of modern practices.

A total of 60 farmers, including participants from General and Tribal categories, are attending the training. Notably, a significant number of women farmers are participating, reflecting growing inclusivity in the sector.

During the inaugural session, silkworm rearing appliances including pruning scissors and black cloth were distributed among the participants to support scientific rearing practices.

The programme is being supervised by District Sericulture Officer Bandipora, Dr. Inayat Saleem Fazili, while technical sessions are being conducted by expert resource persons from Kupwara and the concerned Zonal Incharge of the district.

It was given out that, over the three days, participants will receive training on improved mulberry cultivation, advanced silkworm rearing techniques, and disease management practices to enhance cocoon productivity and quality.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Sericulture Officer highlighted that the initiative is aimed at equipping farmers with modern technologies and scientific knowledge to boost production and ensure better economic returns.
