NDRF conducts Disaster Management Awareness, Training Programme at GDC Billawar

KATHUA, APRIL 10: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Activity Club, NSS & NCC unit of Government Degree College Billawar, in coordination with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), organized an Awareness and Training Programme on Disaster Management in the college premises, today. The event was organized under the patronage of the College Principal Dr. Alka Sharma.

The NDRF team, comprising around 30 trained personnel and led by Deputy Commandant Parveen Singh, conducted the programme. The event witnessed active participation from the college faculty, non-teaching staff and students, making it a highly engaging and informative session.

The Deputy Commandant provided valuable insights into the role, responsibilities and functioning of the NDRF in managing the disaster situations. The session aimed at creating awareness and building preparedness among the participants.

The NDRF team conducted detailed live demonstrations on handling different disaster scenarios, including earthquakes, fire incidents, floods, accidents and drowning cases. The demonstrations focused on practical approaches using simple techniques and easily available household items, making the training highly relevant and accessible.

After the demonstrations, the participants were given an opportunity for hands-on training, where students and staff actively engaged with the NDRF team to practice the techniques demonstrated during the session.

The event proved to be highly informative and much-needed, equipping the participants with essential life-saving skills and awareness to effectively respond to emergencies.
