
SRINAGAR, APRIL 10: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar organized an awareness programme on “Rights of Prisoners and Legal Aid to Prisoners” at Central Jail Srinagar with the objective of educating inmates about their legal rights and the availability of free legal aid services.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Haq Nawaz Zargar, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge), Srinagar, and under the supervision of Tabassum Qadir, Secretary, DLSA Srinagar.
During the programme, Jahan Ara, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, along with Sadiya Sidiq and Safa, Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsels, of DLSA Srinagar, acted as resource persons. They delivered detailed sessions on the rights of prisoners, procedures for availing free legal aid, and the role of Legal Services Institutions in ensuring access to justice.
The resource persons emphasized that every prisoner has the right to legal representation and fair treatment under law, and encouraged inmates to approach legal aid authorities whenever required.
The programme witnessed active participation and interaction from the inmates, making the session informative and impactful.
The District Legal Services Authority, Srinagar reiterated its commitment to spreading legal awareness and ensuring that justice reaches every section of society.
