
SHOPIAN, APRIL 10: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian Shishir Gupta today chaired a meeting to review and discuss the preparation of the District CAPEX Budget 2026–27.
At the outset, the DDC emphasized the importance of timely and comprehensive planning for the upcoming financial year.
All departments were directed to prepare and submit well structured, realistic, and need based proposals in line with the developmental priorities of the district.
The meeting primarily focused on identifying priority sectors, ensuring optimal allocation of resources, and streamlining the planning process for effective implementation of works under CAPEX 2026–27.
Officers were instructed to give due importance to projects of public utility and long-term impact.
During the deliberations, review of District CAPEX 2025-26 was also discussed. It was highlighted that the district achieved 100% physical targets, reflecting effective execution and monitoring of developmental works across sectors.
The DDC stressed the need for improved coordination among departments and adherence to timelines to avoid delays in project execution.
Emphasis was also laid on maintaining quality standards and ensuring transparency in implementation.
The meeting also discussed tourism development proposals, with departments directed to identify potential sites and submit viable, project based proposals under CAPEX 2026–27.
Emphasis was laid on developing basic infrastructure, improving accessibility, and creating facilities to promote tourism and generate local employment.
Officers were further directed to ensure timely submission of inputs, removal of bottlenecks, and proactive planning to facilitate smooth execution of works in the upcoming financial year.
