
JAMMU, APRIL 09: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), in collaboration with Punjabi Sahitak Sabha, R.S. Pura, Jammu, today organised an impressive book release function, releasing “Ruhan Da Mel”, a collection of Punjabi short stories authored by Taranjeet Kour. The function was held here at K.L. Saigal Hall amidst a distinguished gathering of literary enthusiasts.
Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, former Additional Secretary, JKAACL, presided over the function. Among those present on the dais were Dr. Rajbir Singh, President, Punjabi Sahitak Sabha, R.S. Pura, Jammu; Popinder Singh Paras, Editor, Sheeraza Punjabi; Shamsher Singh Chouhalvi and the author Taranjeet Kour.
In his presidential address, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn congratulated the author for her literary contribution and underscored the importance of encouraging emerging writers in Punjabi literature. He appreciated the growing participation of new writers in enriching the literary landscape.
Earlier, Dr. Rajbir Singh delivered the welcome address, warmly greeting the dignitaries and participants. He highlighted the Sabha’s consistent efforts in promoting literary activities and strengthening literary institutions. He also shared his views on the book and lauded the author’s creative endeavour, emphasizing the need for more such literary contributions in the future.
A detailed paper on the book was presented by Dr. Amanpreet Kaur, who critically analysed the themes and narrative style of the short stories.
Several eminent speakers, including Shamsher Singh Chouhalvi, H.S. Uppal, Dr. Monojit, Mohinderpal Singh and Harbhajan Singh Pumy also expressed their views on the book and appreciated the author’s work.
Speaking on the occasion, Taranjeet Kour shared her reflections on writing and expressed her deep passion for Punjabi short stories. She described “Ruhan Da Mel” as a humble attempt to present her creative expression to readers.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by S. Popinder Singh Paras, who also presented the vote of thanks.
A large number of writers, scholars, teachers, students and literature lovers attended the function, making it a memorable and enriching literary gathering.
