8th Poshan Pakhwada commences in Jammu; Focus on early childhood brain Development

JAMMU, APRIL 9: The 8th Poshan Pakhwada was inaugurated here today under the aegis of POSHAN J&K, marking the beginning of a focused awareness drive on nutrition and early childhood development across Jammu district.

The programme was inaugurated by the Mission Director-POSHAN J&K Sajad Hussain Ganai. The event began with an auspicious opening ceremony, setting a positive and engaging tone for the initiative.

The function was attended by the District Programme Officer, Poshan Jammu, Pankaj Anand along with all Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) of the district, Supervisors, Anganwadi workers and beneficiaries.

The central theme of this year’s Poshan Pakhwada, “Maximizing Brain Development in the First Six Years of Life,” remained the key focus of discussions and activities conducted during the programme.

The inaugural event was also live telecast from Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, reflecting the nationwide observance of the initiative. A series of activities were organized including distribution of baby kits among beneficiaries and Vidyarambh certificates to children graduating from Anganwadi centres. ECCE (Early Childhood Care and Education) material was also distributed to strengthen early learning at the grassroots level.

Speaking on the occasion, the Mission Director highlighted the critical role of proper nutrition, early stimulation and community participation in ensuring holistic development of children. The District Programme Officer emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts by field functionaries in achieving the objectives of POSHAN Abhiyaan.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by a CDPO Jammu, acknowledging the contributions of all stakeholders in making the event successful.
