
UDHAMPUR, APRIL 08: A three-day Divisional-Level awareness programme began in Udhampur, with its virtual inauguration by the Chief Minister Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, from the Convention Centre Jammu.
The programme was jointly organized by the School Education Department in collaboration with the District Administration Udhampur here at Conference Hall, DC Office Complex.
Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa; Joint Director School Education Udhampur–Reasi Dr. Jagdish Chander Mehra; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr. Umesh Shan; Chief Education Officer and other district officers, staff members and students from various educational institutions attended the inaugural session.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the significance of the three-day awareness initiative and emphasized its objectives. He informed that the programme aims to sensitize students and the general public on key themes such as road safety, environmental protection, social awareness, mental health, drug de-addiction and academic and career guidance. He reiterated that the initiative is designed to promote awareness, encourage responsible behaviour and strengthen inter-departmental coordination for effective outreach at the grassroots level.
Stressing the importance of collective responsibility, he urged participants to actively spread awareness regarding environmental protection, adherence to traffic rules, preservation of water bodies and the need to conserve water resources.
Earlier, the Joint Director School Education Udhampur–Reasi presented a brief overview of the programme and informed that a series of awareness activities will be conducted across the district Udhampur during the three-day event to maximize public engagement and impact.
