Social Forestry Budgam organizes Plantation Drive

BUDGAM, APRIL 07: In an effort to promote environmental conservation and enhance green cover, the Social Forestry Range, Budgam today organized a comprehensive plantation drive in collaboration with Sheikh-Ul-Alam Memorial Degree College Budgam within the college premises.

The programme was conducted under the leadership of Principal, Shiekh-ul-Alam Memorial Degree College Budgam, Dr. Mohammad Amin, who underscored the importance of collective responsibility in protecting the environment. He appreciated the initiative of the Social Forestry Department and emphasized the role of educational institutions in fostering environmental awareness among students.

The plantation drive witnessed active and enthusiastic participation from students, teaching faculty, and non-teaching staff of the college.

 Employees from various departments also took part in the programme, making it a collective and community-driven initiative. Officials and field staff from the Social Forestry Range, Budgam were also present on the occasion.

During the drive, participants planted a variety of saplings, including ornamental and shade-giving species, across the college campus.

On the occasion, officials from Social Forestry Budgam, highlighted the significance of afforestation in mitigating the adverse impacts of climate change. They urged the public, particularly the youth, to actively participate in plantation drives and adopt sustainable practices to preserve the ecological balance.

The programme concluded with a pledge by participants to protect and nurture the planted saplings and to continue contributing towards environmental protection initiatives in their respective capacities.
