ARTO Bandipora conducts special enforcement drive across Bandipora

BANDIPORA, APRIL 06: On the directions of Transport Commissioner J&K, Vishesh Pal Mahajan, and under the guidance of RTO Kashmir, Qazi Irfan, a day-long special enforcement drive was conducted across various routes of District Bandipora to ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations.

The drive was aimed at enhancing the safety of drivers and passengers and curbing road accidents. The enforcement team, comprising Motor Vehicle Inspector  Lateef Ahmad; Inspector, Ab Hamid Bhat, and Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector Irfan Ali, carried out intensive checking under the supervision of ARTO Bandipora, Mukhtar Sofi.

During the drive, special focus was laid on checking the installation of speed governors in passenger vehicles, use of mobile phones while driving, use of illegal pressure horns, rash driving, overloading, and non-compliance with seat belt and crash helmet norms.

A total of 62 vehicles were challaned under various provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, with a fine amounting to ₹1,22,900 expected to be realised. Additionally, five driving licences were recommended for suspension for serious violations.

ARTO Bandipora stated that such enforcement drives would continue in future to ensure road safety, warning that strict action, including suspension of licences, would be taken against habitual offenders.
