
PULWAMA, MARCH 27: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom today chaired a comprehensive meeting at the Administrative Complex here to review the status of stock, supply and distribution of essential commodities, particularly Petrol, Diesel and LPG, across the district.
At the outset, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama briefed the chair on the current stock position, supply mechanisms and on-ground scenario. It was informed that adequate stock of Petrol, Diesel and LPG is available in the district and the supply is functioning normally, with no exigency reported.
The meeting was further apprised that District Level and Tehsil Level Committees have been constituted to ensure smooth distribution, effective grievance redressal and strict compliance with the provisions of law.
The DC undertook a detailed review of the tehsil-wise supply position and directed all Tehsildars to ensure close supervision and effective monitoring so as to maintain uninterrupted and hassle-free availability and distribution of LPG and other products to the consumers.
Emphasising strict enforcement, the DC directed the concerned officers to keep a close vigil to prevent overcharging, hoarding, black marketing and dispensing of fuel in loose containers in violation of established norms.
The DC also sought feedback from the Sales Officers and District Nodal Officers of various oil companies, who expressed satisfaction over the existing stock levels and supply chain management. They informed that fuel is being dispensed strictly as per norms and there are no issues of shortage or panic buying currently in the district.
The DC further directed the officers to maintain close coordination with oil marketing companies to ensure timely replenishment of stocks and avoid any supply gaps. He instructed for daily monitoring of stock positions at all retail outlets and LPG distribution points, besides maintaining a buffer stock to meet the demand. The DC also emphasised the need for public awareness to discourage panic buying and urged stakeholders to ensure orderly distribution.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners of Pulwama and Awantipora; General Manager, District Industries Centre Pulwama; all Tehsildars; Assistant Director, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs; Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology; Managers (Operations) of oil companies; besides sales officers and distributors.
