
DODA, MARCH 23: A two-day Conference/Workshop under MIDH-CSS on the theme “Strengthening Sustainable Agriculture through Climate-Smart Practices and Improved Farm Productivity” commenced today at Community Hall, Doda. The programme is being organized by the Department of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare (AP&FW), J&K, under the aegis of the Directorate of Agriculture, Jammu.
The programme is being coordinated by the Office of the Chief Agriculture Officer, Doda. The inaugural session was presided over by Mushroom Development Officer, Doda, Susheel Rattan Sharma, who attended as the Chief Guest, while Haroon Hussain, ADO (Vegetables), Doda was present as the Guest of Honour.
The event was organized by Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Pranoo, Aamir Rafiqui along with the staff of Sub Division Pranoo.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation of more than 200 farmers, along with officers and officials of the Agriculture Department. Experts from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Bhaderwah and Department of Agriculture Production and FW Doda, including Dr. Arvinder Raina, Sandeep Gupta, Ampy Singh and Waseem Raja conducted a series of technical sessions on various aspects of agriculture.
A detailed discussion on climate-smart agriculture was held, focusing on sustainable and resilient farming practices in the context of changing climatic conditions.
The experts deliberated on key areas such as efficient resource management, crop diversification, soil health management, integrated pest management, water conservation and improved farm productivity. Emphasis was also laid on the effective implementation of various government schemes under MIDH. Farmers actively participated in interactive discussions, making the sessions highly informative and engaging.
The conference will continue tomorrow with advanced training modules, field-level strategies and experience sharing to further strengthen the agricultural ecosystem in District Doda.
