
KULGAM, MARCH 23: On Shaheedi Diwas under Speacil phase of Vande Matram celebrating 150 years of the iconic national song Vande Mataram, a mega function was organized today at the Mini Secretariat in district Kulgam as part of the nationwide celebrations.
Shaheedi Diwas, observed to honour the brave hearts who laid down their lives for the nation. The programme aimed to pay tribute to the immense sacrifices made for the love of the motherland and to reconnect citizens with the enduring legacy and spirit of Vande Mataram.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers, officials and other participants who joined together in a mass singing of Vande Mataram, reflecting a strong sense of patriotism and unity.
On the occasion, a signature campaign was also conducted to encourage citizens to reaffirm their commitment towards the nation and its values. In addition, a plantation drive was launched to promote environmental responsibility and sustainable practices.
Widows of heroes who attained martyrdom for the country also participated in the programme and were honoured as a mark of respect for the supreme sacrifices made by the martyrs.
The celebrations form part of a nationwide initiative led by the Ministry of Culture to commemorate 150 years of Vande Mataram, originally composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, which played a significant role in inspiring the Indian freedom movement.
As part of the celebrations, citizens across the country are encouraged to participate in various activities including filmmaking competitions, sing-along events and other public engagement initiatives to celebrate the spirit of patriotism and national pride.
